Tips to Write an Appealing Persuasive Essay

For those who have written quite a lot of essays and other writing pieces or even those with little experience of writing, all would agree that writing an appealing persuasive essay is not an easy task. And this is the reason it is recognized as the most difficult type of essay writing. There is not a student who has not written a single persuasive essay during school or college. Everyone has to write one or more persuasive essays but not everyone can master the art of writing an impressive persuasive essay. Here we are discussing some of the tips so that you will be able to improve your essay writing skills and write an appealing persuasive essay.

How to evaluate if the essay is appealing or not?

Before we begin on the tips on an appealing persuasive essay, we must first understand what is the parameter that decides whether the persuasive essay is interesting and impressive or not. The goal of a persuasive essay is to persuade the reader to agree with the writer’s argument. If a reader is convinced about an argument, then it means the writer has done a successful job of writing the persuasive essay.

  • Choose an interesting topic

The first step to write an appealing persuasive essay is to choose a topic that will interest the majority of the readers. After you have chosen a topic, make sure to choose words for the title that will grab the reader’s attention swiftly. If the topic is not interesting, it is likely that the reader will not be impressed or even not read at all. If the persuasive essay is part of an assignment, then the teacher might deduct grade for that.

  • Choose a stance

After you have chosen a topic, you should clearly know which side of the topic you are. Some topics can be confusing and you might agree with both the stances, but make sure you choose one of them clearly. If you have chosen to develop a new stance on the topic, that will be interesting but might require a bit more work. Unless you choose a clear stance, you will not be able to compose a persuasive essay and the reader will become confused.

  • Understand your audience

It is important to be aware of the level of understanding of your audience. If you know exactly the caliber of your reader, you will compose a persuasive essay that will appeal to them easily. If the persuasive essay is your assignment and you write an essay that is for layman audience, your teacher might not be impressed. On the other hand, if you are writing a persuasive essay for everyone, it should be too technical or intricate that people face difficulty while understanding the argument.

  • Create an outline

The importance of creating an outline especially increases when it comes to writing an appealing persuasive essay. The stronger your argument, the more appealing your persuasive essay will be.

  • Research

After you have composed an outline, research according to the outline. Conduct extensive research on all the aspects of the argument. As you research, you will find even more evidence and arguments that support your argument. Use authentic and maximum number of resources. You can use different types of resources, don’t just stick to one. There are different types of resources including academic journal articles, conference and research papers, conference proceedings, verified audio or video recordings, newspaper articles, court cases, interviews, reports, magazine articles, surveys, and experiments. With diverse and more resources, the reader will find it more persuasive.

Using these tips, you can surely write an appealing persuasive essay and manage to get an A grade on your assignment or applaud from your readers.
